Photographer SeongJoon Cho held his first solo exhibition at the Australian Embassy in Seoul while studying photography at Chung-Ang University. Since then, he has presented seven solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows. He has received awards from prestigious international competitions, including the National Geographic and APEC International Photo Contests, and has served as a juror for organizations such as Garuda Indonesia, DJI, the Korea Meteorological Administration, and Suhyup.
Based in Seoul, Cho works as a photographer for Bloomberg News, capturing pivotal historical moments through a distinctive lens. His coverage includes the first and second North Korea–United States summits, the Hong Kong pro-democracy protests, four APEC summits, and four Singapore Airshows. As a member of the White House press corps, he has closely covered U.S. leaders, including Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden, as well as Vice Presidents Mike Pence and Kamala Harris.
His commercial work includes advertising and promotional photography for global companies such as Samsung Electronics, Nike, and Royal Dutch Shell. He has also worked as an official photographer for globally recognized figures, including Warren Buffett, Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, and Bill Gates, Co-chair of the Gates Foundation.
In 2011, Cho was named “Photographer of the Year” by the Canadian energy consulting firm Scotia Waterous, which led to the publication of his photobook Memories of the Heart in Canada—a lyrical documentation of Korea’s landscapes. A pioneer in drone photography, he held South Korea’s first drone photography exhibition and authored Drone: The World from Above.
From 2023 to 2025, he served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Photography and Video at Kyungil University, mentoring emerging photographers through courses on drone photography and photojournalism. His most recent photobook, Records of the Era, underscores the enduring value of photography as a historical record.
Whenever he takes his camera, he approaches his subject with professionalism, integrity, and dedication. His first crafted photography book, South Korea; Memories of the Heart, was published in Canada in 2011. Not only is Cho an Eddie Adams Workshop alumnus, but he won the prize in 2006.

사진가 조성준은 중앙대학교 사진학과 재학 중 주한 호주대사관에서 가진 첫 개인전을 시작으로 일곱 번의 개인전과 다수의 단체전을 가졌다. 내셔널지오그래픽 국제사진 공모전, APEC 국제사진 공모전 등 다양한 국제 공모전에서 입상 했으며, 가루다인도네시아항공 국제사진 공모전, DJI 드론 사진·영상 공모전, 기상청 기상.기후 사진.영상 공모전, 수협 우리 바다 사진 공모전 등의 심사위원을 역임했다.
블룸버그 통신 서울 주재 외신 사진기자로 제1·2차 북미 정상회담, 홍콩 민주화 운동, 네 번의 APEC 정상 회의, 네 차례의 싱가포르 에어쇼를 비롯해 이 시대의 다양한 현장을 독특한 시각으로 기록해 왔다. 백악관 기자단 일원으로 트럼프, 펜스 전 미국 대통령, 부통령 그리고 바이든, 해리스 현 미국 대통령, 부통령을 지근거리에서 취재해 왔다. 또한, 삼성전자, 나이키, 로얄더치셸 등 세계적 기업의 광고와 홍보 사진을 촬영하고 있으며 워렌버핏 버크셔 해서웨이 회장, 빌 게이츠 게이츠파운데이션 이사장 등 다수의 VIP 전속 사진가로 활동해 오고 있다.
2011년 캐나다 에너지 컨설팅 기업 스코시아 워터러스(Scotia Waterous)가 후원하는 ‘올해의 사진가’로 선정되었다. 당시 한국의 서정적인 풍광을 기록한 사진집 <마음의 여정, Memories of the Heart>를 캐나다 현지에서 발간했다. <드론-공중에서 본 세상>의 저자이자 국내 최초로 드론 사진전을 개최한 드론 전문 사진작가이다. 2023년부터 2025년까지 경일대학교 사진영상학부 특임교수로 재직하며 ‘드론 촬영 실기’, ‘포토저널리즘’ 강의를 통해 미래의 사진가들과 소통해 왔다. 최근 사진집 <시대의 기록-도서출판 윤진>을 발간하며, 사진이 지닌 역사적 기록물로서의 가치를 조명하고 있다.
